Illustrations developed for the 51st Undokai Multi-Sports Festival of Okinawa Association of Vila Carrão and 48th Athletics Championship
Undokai (運動会) is a traditional Japanese sports festival that typically involves a variety of athletic competitions and activities. It promotes physical fitness, teamwork and community spirit, featuring events such as relay races, tug-of-war, long jumps, among others. Okinawa Association Undokai is characterized by its emphasis on participation from children, parents, grandparents and community members, fostering a sense of comradeship and support among participants.
I included various elements of Undokai, such as koinobori, medals and trophies, also adding a playful touch. Since this is an event for the Okinawan community (Okinawa is a Japanese island group known for its unique culture, beautiful beaches and historical significance), I also incorporated several elements of Okinawan culture, including shisa, bingata, Shuri Castle and typical flowers.
