Double-page spread illustration for chapter 16 of the book 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I wanted to portray in this illustration the admiration that the characters of the Professor Pierre Aronnax and the Conseil felt when they saw the different creatures of the sea, and the rays of sunlight crossing the water revealing all its possible colors. Meanwhile, Captain Nemo, already accustomed to the landscape, simply continues on into the depths of the sea, guiding his guests.
