Illustration developed for Japan Post through a contest held in collaboration with Pixiv, where I received an Honorable Mention award. The competition invited artists to create an illustration for the official 2026 New Year postcard.
Title: Making a Wish on a Galloping Horse
This illustration expresses the sense of movement and vibrant energy associated with the Year of the Horse. Inspired by the rich visual patterns of traditional Hanafuda cards, the artwork reflects the splendor and auspicious spirit of the New Year. The composition brings together several traditional Japanese New Year elements, such as seasonal motifs, symbolic decorations, and references to renewal and good fortune deeply rooted in Japanese culture. My intention was to convey feelings of hope, vitality, and prosperity, celebrating a fresh beginning for everyone who encounters it.
